As it was my last night before I continued on to my next adventure, Vicki had made a reservation at this delightful place which served regional specialties and had a wood fired grill in the dining room.
I ordered a roquefort salad for a starter, then had grilled prawns and they were wonderful with thick buttery garlic sauce and of course homemade bread to sop it up with.
Creme Brulee was my dessert of choice and it was one of the best I had ever had - the top crust hard and black so you get that wonderful burnt sugar tang which compliments the smooth vanilla custard.

May 17 2006 - On my way to Bordeaux Airport
Even though my flight doesn’t leave until 1635, we left the house at 1030 am so that I could have a chance to photograph this absolutely wonderful and unusual dear little Church called Notre Dame des Cyclistes – the parish priest is a cycling enthusiast and the interior of the church <open daily from 15-18> is filled to the brim with cycling memorabilia.

Two of the most enduring memories that  I take from my sojourn in this beautiful country are the brilliance of the roadside poppies and the geometric shade of centuries old plane tree allee’s which were ordered planted by Napoleon to shade his troops.
