Larressingle -Another Day Another Bastide- this time with Chateau
Once you cross over the drawbridge which spans a mossy grassy moat <no water anymore> you find yourself in an immense courtyard of the Chateau lined with shops. There was a pottery shop in which I longed to buy something but I remembered how stuffed my bags were by this time and how I had to lug Big Red around so I wisely desisted <insert sigh of relief from Gary>.
Vicki, Geoff and I were hungry by this point in our sight seeing - so after a tour of the shops, we sat down outside in the warm evening shade under the awning of a local Creperie and perused the menu.
One of the specialties that caught my eye were ‘Flower Crepes’. You could have your choice of Rose, Lavinde <Lavender> or something called ‘ Coquelicots’. When asked what that was, the young girl said to us ‘ a big red flower’. OK. So we asked M.La Manager who looked surprised at our lack of knowledge and said with wide gestures ‘ Poppy!’. Ah..poppy crepes. I did not indulge but instead ordered apricot while Vicki had a lavender crepe and Geoff happily munched away on a Magnum ice cream bar.
The Pottery Shop where I was sorely tempted.
